The Ministry of Civil Aviation on January 15 unveiled the Vision 2040 document, which highlights the growth potential in different sub-sectors of Indian aviation and the key action steps are required to be taken to achieve the desired objective. It says the total passenger traffic (to, from and within India) in India is expected to rise nearly six-fold from 187 million in FY 2018 to around 1124 million (112.4 crores) in FY 2040.   2. A Tokyo court on January 15 rejected a request by former Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn for bail following fresh charges, dashing his hopes for an early release from his Japanese jail cell. The decision means the 64-year-old auto tycoon is likely to stay in custody until his trial, which even his own defence lawyer has admitted could take six months to begin.   4. In the state of Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Kamal Nath launched the Rs 50,000-crore farm debt-waiver scheme named 'Jai Kisan Rin Mukti Yojana' today. The state cabinet gave its nod to waive crop loans of 55 lakh farmers on January 5. Farm loan waivers have come under criticism due to lack of effective long-term solutions.   15. Two independent MLAs - R. Shankar and H. Nagesh - on January 15 announced the withdrawal of their support to the JD(S)-Congress government in Karnataka. The two MLAs, who staying in Mumbai reportedly with a few disgruntled Congress MLAs, have released letters addressed to the Governor withdrawing their support.
